YARN
Caron International's Simply Soft® Paints (100% acrylic, 4oz/113g, 200yds/182m):
#9756 Lavender Blue 8oz/229g
KEY PLATE
USM/ISM KP#2.5 or appropriate tension to obtain gauge
Suitable for USM/ISM/Bond Classic or 6.5 to 9 mm knitting machine
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
Printed fabric (1/4 yd - 60" wide) OR 1/2" ribbon (17 yds)
Yarn needle
Pins
Sewing needle and thread

In Pattern stitch with Simply Soft and KP 2.5, 14 sts and 18 rows = 4”/10 cm

STITCH USED
Drop stitch

DROP STITCH
Knit rows called for in instructions. Select 5th ndl from end and every foll 5th ndl across row. Drop sts from selected ndls down to CO row.

NEEDLES REQUIRED 54
WRAP (See technique instructions)  
  • Using closed CO method, CO 54 sts. COR. RC=000.
  • K to RC=251. 
  • Select 5th ndl from end and every foll 5th ndl across row. Drop sts from those ndls down a few inches. 
  • BO (back st) loosely. Do not pull tightly across ladders.
  • Take work off machine and cont to work dropped sts down to CO row.
FINISHING
  • Cut or tear ten 1/2" strips of fabric - ea 60" long OR cut ten pieces of 1/2" ribbon - 60" long.
  • Using yarn needle, weave one strip through the first ladder section: With RS facing, start over CO and 2 ladders, then under 2 ladders. Cont over 2 and under 2 to BO edge. Work slowly and do not twist fabric/ribbon.
  • Lay piece flat and even out weaving. On sides, pin all ends so they extend approx 2 - 2 1/2". Secure ends with sewing needle and thread.
  • Optional shaping: Weave first strip leaving 2 - 2 1/2" ends on ea side. Shorten (tighten) second strip by 1" and weave in same manner. Shorten (tighten) third strip by 2" and weave. Cont so that ea strip is 1" shorter than the one before to create a curved shape. Trim adjusted ends to 2 - 2 1/2". Secure ends with sewing needle and thread.
  • Weave in yarn ends.
  • Steam very lightly.
