YARNCaron International's Simply Soft® Heather (100% acrylic; 5 oz/141.8 g, 250 yds/228 m skein): 2 skeins

 Knit side = RS

For Crochet Edging
Chain (ch): 
Begin by making a slip knot on your hook. * Wrap the yarn around the hook (yarn over) and pull up a loop, [draw the yarn through the loop on the hook to form the first chain]. Repeat from * for number of chains required. Note: The loop on the hook is not included when counting the number of chains.
Single Crochet (sc): Insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.
Slip Stitch (slip st): Insert hook in the stitch indicated, yarn over and draw through both the stitch and the loop on the hook.
NEEDLES REQUIRED: 130
NOTES
  • Shawl is worked in two pieces, then joined at center Back.
  • Chart shows first half of Shawl – reverse placement of design for second half.
HELPFULMark bed every 10 needles, (see Chart), for Lace.
SHAWL (make 2 pieces)
  • COL. Using KP#2.5, closed CO Method and MY, CO 130 sts. COR. RC=000.
  • K 1 R. 
  • Begin working from Chart; working shaping as shown, work Rows 2 – 128. RC=128. 5 sts rem. 
  • BO.
FINISHINGSew pieces together at center Back.
Edging: With RS facing, join yarn with a slip st at upper corner, ready to work across upper edge.
Ch 1, sc in same st as joining; work 1 row sc evenly around all edges, working 3 sc in each corner st.
Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
Block lightly, if desired.
