YARN
Naturallycaron.com Country (75% Microdenier Acrylic, 25% Merino Wool, 3oz/85g, 185yds/170m): 
Shown in: #0008 Silver Service 2oz/57g (for both pieces)  
KEY PLATE
USM/ISM KP#2 or appropriate tension to obtain gauge 
Suitable for USM/ISM/Bond Classic or 6.5 to 9 mm knitting machine

Bracelet: 50 4mm crystal beads and 1 Slap Bracelet (package of 8 from Smart Foam - sold at JoAnns)
Necklace: 70 4mm crystal beads and crochet hook H-8 (5mm) for finishing

Butterfly st with beads

BUTTERFLY STITCH WITH BEAD
  • Select needles to be used for the butterfly stitch. 
  • Count down 5 purl "bumps" (ladders or rows) under ndl. 
  • Insert latch tool into the stitch.
  • Drop st off needle and unravel it down to tool. 
  • Keeping the stitch on the latch tool, bring the tool up the back of work and catch the top “ladder” or stitch.  
  • Pull that latter around to front, through st on the latch tool and place it on the empty needle.
  • Cont across on selected needles/stitches in the same manner. 
  • After all Butterfly sts have been completed, go back and add a bead to each: Using the crochet hook, slide bead up hook and then put the new elongated st (from ndl) onto the hook and pull st through bead. 
  • Place st back on needle. 
  • Put all sts in FWP with latches open before working row.
CROCHET STITCHES USED (for Necklace Collar only)
Chain
Single crochet (sc)
Picot crochet
PICOT CROCHET
Sc in first st, *ch3, sc in same st, sc in next 3 sts; rep from *, end ch3; fasten off.
NEEDLES REQUIRED 42 for Bracelet and 94 for Necklace

BRACELET (See technique instructions)  

  • Cut two 25" pieces of MY and thread 20 beads on ea using beading needle. Set aside.
  • COR. Using WY, CO 42 sts. K 8 R. Break off. Change to MY.
  • K5R.  
  • *Weave beads: Pull out an empty ndl on RHS and tie end of one beaded yarn piece to secure. Working from right, bring 2 ndls at a time into HP, weaving the yarn over 2 and under 2 ndls across row and putting a bead in place between ea group of 2. Check to see that all beads are in the proper position. Untie secured end. Put clips on ends and push weaving back next to sts. K1R manually. Move carriage to opposite side.*
  • K6R. 
  • Butterfly sts with beads: Select the 4th ndl from end and then every foll 5th ndl. Make 8 Butterfly sts with beads.
  • K1R.
  • Rep from * to * to weave beads again.
  • K 6R. COR.   
  • Seam: Use claw weights on WY and remove hem. Hang first row of MY stitches from WY onto ndls so that there are two sts on each ndl (end ndl will have only one). Move claw weights as needed. Put ndls into FWP with latches open and K1R.
  • Bind off with back stitch.
  • FINISHING (Purl side is RS) 
    • Carefully turn knitted piece inside out. Pull onto slap bracelet aligning beads on concave side. Using woven beaded yarn ends, even out beads and secure. Leave one yarn end on ea side to close. Hide all other ends inside. Close bracelet sides by weaving around edge rows and pulling tightly. Secure and hide ends inside.
    • Fold to back so bracelet curls (snaps) to fit wrist.

NECKLACE  COLLAR (see technique instructions)

  • Cut a 36" piece of MY and thread 46 beads using beading needle. Put clips on ends and set aside.
  • Using closed CO method, CO 94 sts. COR. 
  • K2R.  
  • Weave beads: Pull out an empty ndl on LHS and tie end of beaded yarn piece to secure. Working from left, bring 2 ndls at a time into HP, weaving the yarn over 2 and under 2 ndls across row and putting a bead in place between ea group of 2. Check to see that all beads are in the proper position. Untie secured end. With clips on ends, push weaving back next to sts. K1R manually. Move carriage to opposite side. 
  • K2R. Dec 1 st ea end. K4R.
  • Butterfly sts with beads: Select the 4th ndl from end and then every foll 5th ndl. Make 18 Butterfly sts with beads.
  • K2R. Take work off on WY. Don't cut MY but remove hem. 
  • COL. Rehang work (purl side still facing front) on 74 sts by doubling up on sts 4 and 5 across row. End 2 sts. Use claw weights as needed, then rehang hem or use additional claw weights.
  • Put all ndls in FWP with latches open. K3R. Take work off again on WY. Don't cut MY but remove weight(s).
  • Rehang work (purl side still facing front) on 60 sts by doubling up on sts 4 and 5 across row. End 4 sts. Use claw weights as needed. Pull down gently on sts. 
  • K1R
  • Bind off with back stitch. 
  • FINISHING (Purl side is RS)
    • Let neck edge roll to knit side.
    • Pull on woven yarn ends to slightly tighten and straighten beads. Secure and weave in ends.
    • Starting at top left side and ending at top right side, work sc on sides and picot crochet along bottom. Make 6" chain crochet ties at beg and end. Add beads to tie ends if desired.
    • Weave in rem ends.
    • Lay out in circle and steam very lightly.
