TECHNIQUEEyelet (lace)

TENSION
Using keyplate 2 in patt (St st & eyelet):
18 sts & 26 rows = 4"/10 cm.

NOTES
Number of needles to knit tunic: 91 (99, 109, 117).
Body is patterned.  Sleeves are plain.

BACK
COR. Using the open edge cast on method and WY, CO 91 (99, 109, 117) sts. K6R. Break off.  Change to MY and K2R. Start lace pattern from center of each row and work out sideways. (This keeps your patt centered no matter what size you are knitting.) Using lace technique, continue throughout in patt from chart.  Knit R1-26 then rep (R27 to R78) 3x. You have knit 184 R.
 Shape

Shoulders & Neck
COR.  Remove center 35 (37, 39, 41) sts onto WY.  Push ndls on LHS up to HP.  Remove 28 (31, 35, 38) sts on RHS onto WY.  Remove LHS sts onto WY in same way.
Ribbing
COL.  Bring forward 89 (97, 107, 115) ndls to HP and pick up as many sts from first row MY, dec 2 sts.  With MY, K6R.  COL.  Beg on 2nd st, drop and latch up every other st to form 1x1 rib.  BO in backstitch.

FRONT
Work as for Back keeping continuity patt.  K164R.

Shape Shoulders & NeckCOR.  Remove center 21 (23, 25, 27) sts onto WY.  Push 35 (38, 42, 45) ndls on LHS up to HP.  Work RHS on 35 (38, 42, 45) ndls.  K2R.  Dec 1 st at neck edge on next and every alt R 7x total – 28 (31, 35, 38) sts.  K4R.  You have knit 184 R.  Remove sts onto WY.  Push LHS ndls back to FWP.  Complete as RHS reversing shaping.
Ribbing
Work as for Back.

SLEEVES
COR.  Using the open edge cast on method and WY, CO 45 (49, 55, 55) sts.  K6R.  Break off.  Change to MY.  K5R.  Inc 1 st each end of next and every foll 5th row 18 (21, 22, 22)x total.  You now have 81 (91, 99, 99) sts.  Knit until there are 104 (110, 116, 116) R total.  BO loosely.

Ribbing
COL.  Bring forward 43 (47, 53, 53) ndls to HP and pick up as many sts along first row MY, dec 2 sts.  With MY, K6R.  COL.  Convert to 1x1 rib.  BO in backstitch.

NECK BAND
Join right shoulder seam.  COL.  Bring forward 89 (93, 97, 101) ndls to HP.  With WS of garment facing, pick up as many sts around neck edge as foll:  35 (37, 39, 41) sts along back of neck, 17 sts down side ofneck, 21 (23, 25, 27) sts across front of neck and 16 sts up side of neck.  With MY, K6R.  COL.  Convert to 1x1 rib.  K6R.  BO in backstitch.

FINISHING
Join left shoulder and neck band seams.  Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.
